The large Market town of Huddersfield lies within the
Metropolitan Borough of Kirkless in West Yorkshire, situated
halfway between Manchester and Leeds.
The Town was once regarded as the 10th largest of its
kind in the UK, responsible for Rugby League and its significant
role in the Industrial Revolution. Nowadays, Huddersfield is a town
of Higher Education, Media and Sport, home to the Rugby League
team, Huddersfield Giants, founded in 1895, who currently play
in the European Super
League and team Huddersfield Town F.C. The town is
home to the University of Huddersfield and the sixth
form colleges Greenhead College, Kirklees
College and Huddersfield New College.
