The Town of Rotherham is located in South Yorkshire between
Doncaster and the City of Sheffield and is famous for the mining of
Iron and Coal during the Industrial Revolution. In 2007, the area
witnessed the start of an urban regeneration project
known as the "Rotherham Renaissance". The project aimed at creating
a vibrant town centre and included apartments, shops, outdoor
cafés, and a new theatre.
Today, Rotherham is regarded as being amongst the leaders of
Manufacturing in the UK, as well as being home to many cultural
attractions, such as; The Magna Science Adventure Centre, The Civic
Theatre and Clifton Park. The Thomas Rotherham College and
Rotherham College for Arts & Technology also attract many local
students pursuing Higher Education in the area.
