Nominations are now open for the third FA Community Awards and Sheffield & Hallamshire FA are hoping to see nominations flood in for local clubs, leagues and volunteers.

The Awards, which are run by the FA and its community partner McDonald's, aim to recognise and reward grassroots clubs and volunteers across the country, as the unsung heroes of grassroots football in communities across England.

Sheffield & Hallamshire FA is calling on people from across the region to cast their votes in the eight award categories, recognising the achievements of members of our grassroots community.

The eight award categories are:

• Outstanding Contribution Award (Voted for by the public at National level)
• The FA Charter Standard Community Club Award
• The FA Charter Standard Development Club Award
• The FA Charter Standard Club Award
• The FA Charter Standard League Award
• Volunteer of the Year Award
• Young Volunteer of the Year Award
• Coach of the Year Award

Nominations close on 11 May 2012 and the County Awards night will be held in early July. The national award winners will be announced at The FA Community Awards presented by McDonald's in October 2012.

National winners will be selected by a judging panel which is likely to include Sir Geoff Hurst, Sir Trevor Brooking and members of the national media, who are all involved in the search for the winners of these prestigious awards.

Sheffield & Hallamshire FA General Secretary James Hope-Gill said: "Grassroots football is at the heart of the national game and every week across the country, people dedicate their time and energy to provide a professional, fun and rewarding football experience for the local community.

"We are delighted that The FA and McDonald's have recognised these clubs and individuals with the Community Awards and believe this is a great opportunity for us to celebrate the dedication and commitment shown by clubs, coaches, players and volunteers across the UK and so we'd urge people to nominate. Fingers crossed we get some finalists and national winners from our region."
