Cusworth girl, Emma Wood, has been selected as one of 20 graduates from 100's of applicants from all around the UK to take up a placement on this years prestigious British Horseracing Authority Graduate Programme.

The programme provides a unique opportunity to build a career in racing with unrivalled access to an extensive range of speakers, visits and events starting with a 2 week course at the National Stud in Newmarket at the beginning of July.  Emma will then go on to take up her placement with the Marketing Team at Goodwood Racecourse.

Emma's passion for horseracing began when she did a work experience placement over the summer of 2008 at Doncaster Racecourse before going off to University in Derby where she graduated in 2011 with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Event Management and PR.  Each year she has returned to the Racecourse to help with the preparations for the St Leger Festival and to assist the Sponsorship Manager on race days.

Emma, who will be leaving her current position as Wedding and Event Operations Manager at the Crown Hotel in Bawtry, says "I am so excited and feel incredibly lucky to be given this wonderful opportunity.  I feel privileged to have been chosen from so many applicants and can't wait to begin my placement."

She will also be joined by another graduate from Doncaster, Mikey Mumford who will take up a placement with Bookmaking Company, Coral.
