Cusworth girl, Emma Wood, has been selected as one of 20
graduates from 100's of applicants from all around the UK to take
up a placement on this years prestigious British Horseracing
Authority Graduate Programme.
The programme provides a unique opportunity to build a career in
racing with unrivalled access to an extensive range of speakers,
visits and events starting with a 2 week course at the National
Stud in Newmarket at the beginning of July. Emma will then go
on to take up her placement with the Marketing Team at Goodwood
Racecourse.
Emma's passion for horseracing began when she did a work
experience placement over the summer of 2008 at Doncaster
Racecourse before going off to University in Derby where she
graduated in 2011 with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Event Management and
PR. Each year she has returned to the Racecourse to help with
the preparations for the St Leger Festival and to assist the
Sponsorship Manager on race days.
Emma, who will be leaving her current position as Wedding and
Event Operations Manager at the Crown Hotel in Bawtry, says "I am
so excited and feel incredibly lucky to be given this wonderful
opportunity. I feel privileged to have been chosen from so
many applicants and can't wait to begin my placement."
She will also be joined by another graduate from Doncaster,
Mikey Mumford who will take up a placement with Bookmaking Company,
Coral.
