A leisure centre in Doncaster was officially opened to the
public recently by a finalist in the Miss South Yorkshire beauty
pageant after a major investment of £200,000 was ploughed into the
venue as part of a pledge to bring some of the best sporting
facilities to the town.
Charlotte Lister (23) from Bentley officially declared the new
fitness suite open to the public following the significant
refurbishment.
Just last year, Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust was formed,
and took over the running of 12 venues across the region, one of
which was Adwick Leisure Centre that has recently benefited from a
brand new fitness suite.
Members can now enjoy new flooring, paint work, state-of-the-art
equipment including the latestLife Fitness™andPowerplate™kit,
alongside the new cardiovascular equipment featuring integrated
audio and visual entertainment systems with iPod connectivity.
Kraig Kelly, group health and leisure manager for DCLT explains:
"We are constantly looking at ways we can improve our facilities
for the benefit of members and the Adwick Leisure Centre
refurbishment is an important part of this.
"We are delighted to be able to deliver fantastic facilities at
this popular centre and enable local people to get even more from
their fitness memberships."
David Connolly, territory manager for Life Fitness said: "Our
continued work with the Doncaster Culture & Leisure Trust is
the perfect example of a great partnership that has developed over
the past two years.
"As DCLT has expanded, we have worked together to provide the
best equipment and solutions for each site, including the newly
refurbished Adwick Leisure Centre.
"By strategically selecting interactive Life Fitness equipment
for the Centre, members can create, customise and track their
workouts with Virtual Trainer, an online workout programming and
training results tracker, to help them reach their fitness
goals."
Adwick Leisure Centre is just one venue in the Doncaster area
that will benefit from investment over the next six months, with
other refurbishments planned to enhance facilities around the
borough.
