A Doncaster company with a 50 year heritage as a family run business in its home town has opened a new retail outlet in the Frenchgate Shopping Centre, Doncaster.

As part of the company's plans to expand its retail operation, The Topping Pie Company (Retail) Limited, an offshoot of the pie manufacturing business, started trading at the centre in November.

Located on the second floor of the Frenchgate Centre at the top of the escalator, the retail outlet will trade for 7 days a week and staff will greet customers wearing the traditional trademark gingham tabards and mop caps.  During the first week of trading, Toppings will offer pie tastings for shoppers.

Commenting on the new retail outlet, Roger Topping, managing director of The Topping Pie Company said;

"As a family run Doncaster business, trading for 50 years, we are delighted to be launching a new outlet in the Frenchgate shopping centre, which has been at the heart of my home town for more than 40 years.

"When my father, Bill Topping, opened our original butchers shop in Scawsby, near Doncaster in 1961, little did he know that it was the start of a multi award winning company whose products would one day grace the counters of Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.  He moved the shop to the Doncaster Market Hall a decade later to accommodate a growing customer base and he is delighted to see our pies on sale today in the hub of Doncaster's town centre," continued Roger.

The company has now transformed from a small Doncaster family butchers to a successful speciality pie business, employing 50 people, with customers including; ASDA and The Co-operative.
