Corporate Branding is the Practice of using your company name as
a product. It gives a clear picture of what the company stands for,
what it does and the products it sells. It can also portray its
values through its branding. The corporate brand is key to ensuring
closer communication with consumers. It shoud engage with and gain
trust from its consumers.
McDonalds is one example of corporate branding with the word
'Mc' being used within the name of most of its products giving them
links to the corporate brand ie McChicken Sandwhich or Chicken
McNuggets communicating to the consumer that these products are of
specific standards.
This contrasts with Product Branding in which an individual
brand is developed to the same effect and the company name is never
really promoted. P & G (Proctor & Gamble) and Pfizer are
two good examples of these.
You may not be familiar with theses companies, but you will have
heard of Pringles, Gillette, IAM's and Pampers to name a few of P
& G's brands and Chapstick, Viagra and Centrum vitamins being a
few brands in Pfizer's arsenal.
Businesses value their company identity and rightly so.
Corporate branding is key to ensuring a companies' presence in
markets which can be heavily saturated, when faced with a choice
between two similar products at similar prices, the one with a
highly communicative brand will always be chosen.
